A final decision was made today by the Supreme Court to allow millions of Americans to keep their subsidies.  Had this 6-3 ruling gone the other way, 6.4 million Americans would no longer be able to afford their premiums as the subsidies are mainly used to assist with making monthly payments.

While the Obamacare law is still much debated, there is no doubt many Americans have benefited from the program.  The Affordable Care Act (ACA) has made it impossible for health insurance companies to discriminate against people with a history of health issues and allows everyone to be seen for preventative care at no cost in attempt to discover health issues before they progress.

Though the ACA was enacted in 2010, many Americans didn’t understand the reach of the program until 2014.  While some realized the importance of complying with the ACA and signed up for health care either through the State Exchanges or other venues, others didn’t and when they filed their 2014 taxes found there was a penalty to pay for being uninsured.

Armstrong Fairway Insurance Agency continues to be a leader in the community in assisting clients become ACA compliant by enrolling them in health care coverage through Covered California Health Exchange as well as “off-exchange” programs.  We are available to assist you with your coverage needs and questions year round and can get you enrolled for the 2016 benefit year once open enrollment comes around (November 1, 2015-January 31, 2016).  For more information please call (760) 245-2561.
