The Open Enrollment Period for the 2018 Enrollment Year

Will Only be 45 Days Long!

Yes, you read that right.  In the years past, open enrollment has been from November 1st through January 31st (often times being extended). This year, open enrollment will only be from November 1st through December 15th. Also in years past, depending on when you signed up you were given either a January 1st, February 1st, or March 1st effective date, that is done away with this year. Everyone who signs up during open enrollment will be given a January 1st effective date.

Something to keep in mind is that if you have a qualifying life event (e.g.-got married, had a baby, moved to CA, lost coverage etc.) you are still allowed to enroll outside of open enrollment. Now, there has been a lot of talk about the changes being made to health care, but as it stands, it’s business as usual. As always, as we learn more information about health care reform, we will be sure to let you know.
