As insurance agents, we hear a lot of crazy claims.  Here are a few we’ve personally dealt with at Armstrong Fairway:

This one hit especially close to home as it was one of our own agents.  “One bee, wait, two bees, hold on…three, four, FIVE…there’s got to be a hive in our house!” said the woman of the house to the man.   He didn’t listen (strange, right?!), until their kitchen was swarmed.  Come to find out, over the span of two weeks a colony of bees made a comfy home in the attic of their house.  The bee keepers were called and asked to save the bees, however, doing so would require for the drywall as well as stucco to be torn down.  While saving the bees was the desirable outcome, this is not something that would be covered by a homeowner’s insurance policy since the destruction of the home would be caused by the homeowner/bee keeper, not the bees themselves.

Here’s one for you cat lovers: make sure the cat in your home is not a water lover.  We had a client call in to file a claim because a cat turned on the water in their restroom, which ran all night and day and flooded the house.  Luckily, this particular situation was covered by insurance.  The kicker in this story is that it wasn’t even their cat, (although a cat that can turn on the water is kind of impressive!)

Aren’t squirrels cute?  Well, not when they’re chewing up the wires in your car they’re not!  Apparently, this is not too uncommon, as we have had different clients have this happen to them.  This one is tricky, some have been covered, and some have not.  Depending on what type of vehicle it is, whether it’s a car or R.V., as well as the insurance carrier, would  determine whether or not this claim would be approved or not.

While we can’t guarantee that any claims are approved or not without going through underwriting, we CAN guarantee we will be with you every step of the way.  We’re in your corner when it comes to claims, whether they’re animal related or not.  Don’t have insurance with us?  Give us a call today and we can give you a quote (760) 245-2561.
