Open Enrollment 2017
By now you know that you are required to have health insurance in order to avoid paying a tax penalty.  Whether you get your health insurance through Covered CA, an employer, or elsewhere, you have to secure coverage for you and your family.  It's currently open enrollment and if you have gone without coverage in the years past don’t make that same mistake for 2017.
If you would like to enroll in health insurance for the year 2017, you will need to do so before January 31st, 2017, which is the end of open enrollment.
Here are the application deadline dates for coverage:

                    Application submitted by:

            12/15/16 –coverage effective 01/01/17
            01/15/17 –coverage effective 02/01/17

            01/31/17 – coverage effective 03/01/17

With all the talk of Obama Care repeal throughout the Presidential election, you may be wondering if you still need coverage…the answer is YES!
If you and your family don't have health insurance for 2017, you’re looking at a hefty tax penalty.  Those who do not purchase a health plan will be subject
to paying $695 per adult and $347 per child, or 2.5 percent of your household income, whichever is greater.
